Dancers: The Shadle Park Dance Team! The 2017-2018 SPDT is up and running with our summer schedule,so stay up to date with our summer adventures via Facebook, Instagram, and youtube! We hope everyone has a wonderful summer, and we'll see you again in the fall for our first halftime performance!Shadle Park Dance Team Basics:
We are a co-ed dance team, open to Shadle Park students in grades 9 through 12. Our team performs throughout the year at Shadle assemblies, football games, basketball games, Regional and State Dance Competitions, as well as the Spokane Lilac Parade, and maybe even a summer flash mob or two. Dance styles vary slightly from year to year but typically include jazz, military, and pom. We study basic principles of dance technique (like body alignment, muscular control, flexibility, and various dance styles), along with performance skills (like rehearsal strategies, evaluation skills, and even introduction to choreography), as well as cross-disciplinary concepts (such as dance development in a given time period, how dance exists in math, or the parallels between dance and other expressive arts). Our team mission is to:¨ To enjoy the excitement of growing as dancers and the pursuit of meeting goals as a team!
¨ To refine our individual athletic and artistic abilities through practice, performance, and reflection.
¨ To provide entertainment and SPHS spirit through athletic, artistic performances.
¨ To proudly represent and lead Shadle Park High School at all times, including at school events and
community events, at competitions, and even away from school-related activities.
¨ To serve as examples of sportsmanship, upholding Spokane Public Schools’ Activity Agreement.
