New this year: 12 early release Fridays
Spokane Public Schools students will be dismissed one hour and fifteen minutes early on 12 Fridays starting this school year to allow teachers time to work with their peers around student improvement.
It is an educational best practice to provide specific structured time built in to the work day for teachers and other certificated staff to collaborate. For these new professional peer learning days, teachers will be meeting in pairs or groups to work on professional practices to improve student learning.
Elementary schools will dismiss students at 1:45 p.m. on the following Fridays:
Feb. 10 and 24
March 10 and 24
April 14 and 28
Before every early-release Friday, SPS will send a reminder via the BrightArrow notification system, and will post information online and on social media. Parents and guardians, please make sure your contact information is current by visiting spokaneschools.org/brightarrow.
