Dear Logan Families and Community,
On behalf of the staff at Logan Elementary, let me be the first to welcome you to a special place of learning. Logan is filled with committed staff members who will do whatever it takes to ensure that the students of the community grow as learners, leaders and citizens. I look forward to meeting each of you and partnering on your child’s education.
A solid relationship begins with knowing a little about one another. I will begin, and will look forward to getting to know each of you in the near future. I grew up in the Spokane area, splitting time between my father’s house in Spokane and my mother’s in Cheney. After graduating from Cheney High School, I spent four years at the University of Washington in Seattle, where I earned a bachelor's degree. Following graduation from UW, I got married to my wonderful wife Kim and returned to Spokane to attend Gonzaga for a year and complete the teacher certification process. My first year of marriage was spent just down the road from Logan, living with my new wife in an all-male dormitory where I was hired to supervise nearly 50 freshman and sophomore young men. It was quite a year in Roncalli Hall!
Following my schooling, I was hired to teach second grade, and spent all of my years in the classroom at the primary grades. Along the way, I completed my master’s work in Administration, Curriculum and Instruction at Whitworth University. I then came to Spokane Public Schools and have served as a Mathematics Instructional and Data Coach and Principal Assistant at Holmes Elementary, Principal at both Madison and Audubon elementary schools and as a director supporting teachers and principals at the district office. While working at the district office, I soon realized how much I missed the excitement of a school setting and the joy that comes from working with students, families and staff in a school community. I love being at Logan and working with each of you to provide a wonderful and safe atmosphere for all children and adults to learn and grow together.
Besides my wife Kim, who is an English Language Development teacher, my family includes a son, Brendan, who will be entering his junior year of high school this fall and a daughter, Myah, who will be in sixth grade come September. They are both the light of their parents’ lives and remind us every day that being a parent is the most important and rewarding job there is.
Welcome to The Logan Pride, I am excited to partner with you, your child’s first and most important “teacher,” to help Logan continue upon its path of excellence.
