Traffic Patterns at Finch Elementary

Traffic Patterns at Finch Elementary
2015-2016

Traffic patterns in front of Finch Elementary need to flow at a reasonable pace because we are a “walking” school.  Our students walk or are driven to Finch each day.  We have two buses that come to Finch and these are for transportation to and from special programs.

It is imperative that parents adhere to the 3 minute maximum time allowed for drop off or pick up.  Otherwise, the traffic on Driscoll Blvd. becomes backed up.  Parents need to pull into the drop off zone, pick up or drop off their children and immediately fall back into the traffic pattern.  **Parents are not allowed to park in the drop off/pick up zones in front of the school and leave their vehicle; as this creates a major safety issue for our children.  When cars are abandoned in the drop off zone in front of the school, the buses park in the middle of the street.  Then, students are getting off or getting on the buses by walking in between the cars.  The other negative issue of abandoning cars is that when the buses stop in the middle of the street the flow of traffic on Driscoll and Milton also stops.

**Please help us keep our children safe by:

  1. Adhering to the 3 minute maximum time limit in the drop off/pick up zones in front of the school.

  2. Do not park your vehicle and abandon it in the drop off/pick up zones in front of the school.

  3. If parents need to come into the building or pick up their children in the back of the building, parents can park in parking lot across from the main entrance or around the neighborhood where parking is permitted.
