Willard is proud to partner with the WATCH D.O.G.S. ® program

WATCH D.O.G.S. ® (Dads Of Great Students) is an educational initiative of the National Center for Fathering, which works to bring fathers and father figures into the nation's classrooms and schools. The primary goals of this program are:

1.    Provide positive male role models for WIllard students - In every school, there are students who need extra time and attention. WATCH D.O.G.S. ® serve in this capacity, interacting with students and "sowing seeds of success" in young lives.

2.    Enhance school security - WATCH D.O.G.S. ® provide extra sets of eyes and ears within the walls of our school, helping create a safer and more productive educational environment. Fathers and father figures serve as an unobtrusive presence in school, as they assist our faculty in many of their daily duties.

We invite fathers and father figures (Fathers, Step-fathers, Grandfathers, etc.) to volunteer one full day, over the course of the school year, to work with the teachers in their child’s school. WATCH D.O.G.S. ® seeks to have at least one father figure present at Willard Elementary every day of the school year for the simple purpose of being "Dad" at school.

Volunteering with WATCH D.O.G.S. ® here at Willard means helping teachers & administrators
with daily school functions, including:
  • Bus/car loop
  • Hallway monitoring
  • Outdoor monitoring
  • Playground monitoring
  • Lunchroom assistance
  • Reading help
  • Flashcard help
  • Tutoring
Be creative! Share your talents and vocation with students, showing them what you've learned from your life in work and school. You can make a difference in students' lives, and we're looking forward to working with our great Willard dads.
It is important that our volunteers are part of the secure and healthy environment we maintain here at Willard. With this in mind, we require WATCH D.O.G.S. ® volunteers to be supervised while working with students. Additionally, volunteers are not allowed in boys or girls restrooms. We also ask WATCH D.O.G.S. ® to refrain from sharing political or religious views with students.
